  2. I think that there are many different reasons why we study history. I probably don't know all of the reasons but I think I know some reasons why. One of the reasons is because it gives us understanding of different cultures and perspective. For example my culture might have thought that they were the first and only people to do something, but if they new more about the people before they might find out that people did that even before that. Another reason is that we need to understand the past so we can understand the present and predict the future. If you investigate the past you might see a pattern for example if there is a war in a country every 50 years then you should notice that and try to prevent the war so you can break the pattern. We need history so we can develope our problem solving skills, our critical thinking and we can discover creativity. What you think isnt a problem today people probably thought it was a problem in the past. You might not even know that problems are problems but you might find out using history.

I like this quote "If you dont like the past, change it" by William L. Burton. I like that qoute because I believe that you can be the change you want to see around you. If you dont like wars or fights then try to stop fights in between people. You might think that that doesnt help but it does. If no one fought then there wouldn't be wars in the world. If you want to end world hunger then you can help one family or maybe even two because if everyone helped someone everyone would have help.

  3. A Great History Quote
"If you do not like the past, change it." William L. Burton

I like this quote because it shows us that we can change things and gives us hope of something new. It is also true and a good advice for many people and it is short and makes it's point go through all the way.

Why Should We Study History and What is History?

We study history because it makes us appreciate multiple perspectives and trains us to gather evidence of that something actually was real. Things from the past can also help to solve many things that are problems in the present and maybe even in the future. Learning history can give understanding of other peoples culture and challenges us to think outside the box. Maybe understanding the past will make us understand the present better. It helps us build skills like: problem solving, critical thinking, discovery, creativity and also find patterns.
History is culture and living from people that lived in the past. How they lived, what they believed, how they evolved, who they where, what they ate, what they wore, how old their ruins are, and many other things that could show how they lived and interacted.

  4. Why study history?

-gives us understaning to other people and cultures

    -challenge us to be creative

    -to understand present times

    -to build skills:problem solving,critical thinking,discovering

History is very important subject beacuse it gives us understaning what did people do in past, what and how did they eat, what did the look like, what did they wear, how was they daily life?

I think we shuold know that.

It challenges us to think more,to think what's the right answer.

And ofcourse do ''upgrade'' our skills,to discover fun and important things!

"If you do not like the past, change it." William L. Burton

"Every past is worth condemning." Friedrich Nietzsche

First one i like because people are never happy ,so if you don't like something change it.

Second one i like because people need to know more about past .

  5. Why Do We Study History?

History is the study of our past and why the past is so. We study the past to try to learn more about ourselves and why we're here, alive, and on Earth. It helps us understand things in the present. Chaos in the past can help us prevent chaos in the present, though people don't often take mind.

    The Epic History Quote

“History isn't like that. History unravels gently, like an old sweater. It has been patched and darned many times, reknitted to suit different people, shoved in a box under the sink of censorship to be cut up for the dusters of propaganda, yet it always - eventually - manages to spring back into its old familar shape. History has a habit of changing the people who think they are changing it. History always has a few tricks up its frayed sleeve. It's been around a long time.”
    --
    Terry Pratchett

I like this quote because it is from one of my favorite authors, as well as the fact that it is completely true and somehow makes sense to me. It is full with metaphors as well, and it's fun to read, though a teensy bit strange.

  6. Did you ever ask yourself, "what is history"? Have you ever wondered why we study the past, and how do we learn about it? History is the past, event that happened a long time ago. We study history to find out about those events that's are not that close to us. Everyone has a different reason for studying about the past. I think that the main reason is the goal to find out more about ourselves and the world around us. History tells us why we are here and who we really are. We can use history to predict what may happen in the future and what may happen in the present. There might even be a pattern that we don't see. Something that happened a hundred years ago might happen again and again. It's important for us to understand every culture because like that we learn more about ourselves, we learn more about history, and we learn how to respect every culture and civilization the way they are.One example of why we study the past is that if you are learning about the Aztec civilization, maybe you can notice little details that connect you to them. Maybe your family that has lived in that time and was a part of the Aztec civilization. That encourages you to study about the past and learn more about yourself.
We learn history in many different ways. If we go on a trip we can maybe find remains of "stuff" from the past and observe them. Asking people, old or young, might help us get a better understanding of the past. We can share with other people our knowledge about the past and they can share with us what they know. Researching is a great way to always learn more about the past. You can use the Internet and textbooks to explore history in different ways. There are many more reasons of how and why we study history. History is an important piece of our life that will teach us more about the world we live in.

"History is for human self-knowledge. Knowing yourself means knowing, first, what it is to be a person; secondly, knowing what it is to be the kind of person you are; and thirdly, knowing what it is to be the person you are and nobody else is. Knowing yourself means knowing what you can do; and since nobody knows what they can do until they try, the only clue to what man can do is what man has done. The value of history, then, is that it teaches us what man has done and thus what man is." R. G. Collingwood. This quote from a British philosopher and historian has made me think about why we really learn about history. Collingwood first said "what is to be a person". Looking at history tells you what is it to be a person. Secondly he said, "knowing what it is to be the kind of person you are". If you don't know what kind of person you are then nobody knows. The history can tell you what person you are. Maybe you are like the Egyptian princess. No one knows that except you. Thirdly "knowing what it is to be the person you are and nobody else is". I think that is pretty much the same as the last one. No one is you and that is the most important thing. The last thing Collington said was "Knowing yourself means knowing what you can do; and since nobody knows what they can do until they try, the only clue to what man can do is what man has done......" This caught my attention the most. When you know yourself you know what you are able to do. But no one knows what they can do until they try. The only clue what man can do is knowing what man has done. When you know what man has done you can also know what you can now. This quote encourages people to look back in the past and see what man has done and figure out what they are and what they can do now.

  7. Why we Study History

Understanding the past helps us understand the present.
It makes us find pattersn and trends in the past.
Also it helps us understand other people and cultures.
Studying history is fun, it helps us understand and solve real-world problems.
Understanding history helps our critical thinking skills.
By studying history we learn more about ourselves and why we are here.

    How we Study History

We find remains such as in caves and the pyramids, remains of the ancient people.
We can read or look at written records.
Another way is the ask old people of what they remember of when they were young.

"If you do not like the past, change it." William L. Burton

I like this quote because its very simple but I had lots of thoughts on my mind when I read this quote. I think that this quote means that if you dislike anything about the future, the present now will turn in the future later so change what you want to change now so later the future can be changed.

  8. Why Study History?

We study history because we need to now how it was many hundreds of years ago and what they did and what kind of tools they had in that time. Now a days its very high tech and long time ago they didnt even have a phone the had things like horns that they would blow in if the other guy was pretty near but today we have phon1es that we can call around the whole world. We also study history because its fun to learn about ancient times. i think studying history is sometimes fun and sometimes boring but these first days were fun.

"'History,' Stephen said, 'is a nightmare from which I am trying to awake.'" I really like this quote because he used all his thinking's but in made it all in to one sentence. I like it because it really is a true for some people.

  9. 1. What is history and why do we study it? History is the science and the development of human society, from the ancient times to the modern (and then) future eras. We study history for many things and here are just some of the few: history is the key to understanding the present, it can be used to solve the problems of today, it can be used to understand different cultures and perspectives, also, it can be used to build skills such as: problem solving, critical thinking, discovering and creativity, if you study history closely you will find interesting patterns of events repeating. Of course, these are just a few of the of the reasons why you should study history, there are many, many more.

    2. Quote: "To each eye, perhaps, the outlines of a great civilization present a different picture. In the wide ocean upon which we venture, the possible ways and directions are many and the same studies which have served for my work might easily, in other hands, not only receive a wholly different treatment and application, but lead to essentially different conclusions."Jacob Burckhardt

Out of all this quotes, this quote is my favorite one because it tells us that each person's point of view (perspective) about history is different. Also, I agree with this quote the most because it tells that when you study history you don't always get the same conclusions, as, let's say your friend or classmate.

  10. History is something that happened in the past. We study history to help us solve problems in the present. History helps us discover new things about our ancestors. It challenges us to think out of the box and be creative. Everyday people study history and find new things. It also helps us understand cultures and religions, it makes us more knowledgeable of the present. It gives us excitement and gives us clues to what people were really like back then.

"If you do not like the past, change it." William L. Burton
This quote came to my interest because it is a simple quote but means a lot. If you don't like what happened before then change it to make the world a better place, it gives us humans to learn from our mistakes and maybe improve the things we have achieved too. For example if you did not like the world wars well maybe you can try and stop it. It is very good advice to people and is very true.

  11. What is history and why do we study history?

History is something that happened before we were a live. We study history because it is a very important subject in school and it helps you when you are talking about the things in pas We also study history because it helps you see how the world was developing in the past years. It's important to study history to see how people lived two hundred years ago and what were their lives like.

    Quote That I Like

"Faithfulness to the truth of history involves far more than a research, however patient and scrupulous, into special facts. Such facts may be detailed with the most minute exactness, and yet the narrative, taken as a whole, may be unmeaning or untrue. The narrator must seek to imbue himself with the life and spirit of the time. He must study events in their bearings near and remote; in the character, habits, and manners of those who took part in them. He must himself be, as it were, a sharer or a spectator of the action he describes." Francis Parkman

I like this quote because it shows how do you need to study history and what is history not just other things. To study history is very hard.
