In the past, where did humans tend to settle and why?

  1. In the past humans tended to settle in areas with a balanced climate, the area usually flat and had a river. There should be forests for wood and animals for food. Wood would be used to make houses, the river for water and travel and the animals for food. It would make most sense because they would have everything needed.

  2. I think humas settled in the United States because the United States was considered the "New World" many slaves travelled to New York City because it was considered a place where everyone is welcome, and they are sure that they would be safe.

  3. Humans tended to settle in places where the climate was agreeable and the land was fertile, where they could plant crops and make a living, or in other places where suitable professions were available.

  4. In the past people tended to settle in places with a good climate with a general pattern. They also looked at the topography of the place to see if the surface is a good place (for example if they want to grow crops it would be best to live in the plains.) But when settling people have to adjust to the enviroment or adjust the enviroment ( for example, we adjust the enviroment by building buildings) but sometimes it too hard to adjust the enviroment and too hard to adjust to it, which in that case people migrate to other places.

  5. The humans mostly settled in the mountains so they wouldn't get killed because if they settled in the mountains the enemy's wouldn't be bothered to go up there.

  6. In the past, most humans preferred to settle near the plains where its easy to grow crops and easy to find water resources, but some decided to settle near the mountains where it would be peaceful and safe. They would move to a different location because of causes such as natural disasters, war, political reasons, etc, but where ever the location was they would need to either adjust to the environment or make the environment adjust to them. Either because of topography or climate, people would move or settle at a place which made their lives easier.

  7. In the very distant past, humans tended to settle near rivers & lakes. This is because a river or lake can provide many bonuses to a settlement- they can provide all the water needed for growing crops, these bodies of water can also be used as drinking water (in Egypt, the Nile was invaluable to the Egyptians because it both provided the water for crops and its water could be used for other purposes such as drinking water, water for household animals and more). The first settlements in (around) Belgrade were formed because of rivers Sava and Danube. In the past, settlements were formed around places which provide food, water and other resources that are needed for those settlements (some even civilizations) to survive. Also, a bonus was if the place provided access to strategic and luxury resources (marble, incense, gold, silver and more).

  8. Early Settlements

The early people settled near water and open fields so they can grow crops. They were also trying to settle in the most protected are so it can be safe. They also wanted to be in a area with animals so they can have something to eat. The early people most important thing was water because it was an every day drink. The people were living in small tents.

  9. Humans tended to settle in places where they think the climate is good and where they could plant the the plants that you would like to. They also choose places they think that they are safe in for example if there was a war some people would go to the mountains because the soldiers would go up there so they thought that they were safe.

  11. Probably they moved to bigger cities, because back in that time they didn't have so much water and power, because that wasn't so common like nowdays. They must survive somehow. But,for exemple Faraons, they had mades, the had water, they had everything they needed so they didn;t have to move. Some were moving on monutains because on mountains, climate is pretty good.

  12. Humans in the past settled in warm places where it rained a lot or where there was a river nearby. They settled to warm places so they could grow crops, they settled in rainy places or next to large bodies of water. so they could water their crops or drink the water without having to walk long distances. Early humans migrated according to the climate and the topography, they migrated to where animals migrated so they would be able hunt creatures. They settled in places that were cold and warm. some time later people started moving for reasons like war, safety, natural disasters and other things.

  13. Humans settled in places with balanced climate and places that had equal rights. People also moved to the US as the well known center of the world in the past. Although the US wasn't good for the immigration/movements of the african-american people in those days because of the discrimination of black people, so they left to Canada.

  14. Historians learn about history by using sources, such as Fossils, artifacts, oral tradition, and the newest thing called written records. The most important thing for historians is Primary sources because they are the real scene of something and not secondary sources which is when (for example BBC puts together an program about history, and only show some things about the history that they want to show). The way most historians study history is to use something called The Historical Method
    1. who is a writer?
    2. what kind of source is it?
    3. when was the source produced?
4 where was the source produced?
    5. why was the source produced?
these are the main things about the historical method that historians use.
